About us: Secure Defence has provided live video monitoring since 2015. We have 500+ customers and 1,000+ sites live monitored across Western Canada, and The Globe and Mail and BIV both named us the Fastest Growing Security Company in Canada in 2025 and 2026. Our licensed operators work out of our command centre in Richmond, BC.
What happens on your site: AI picks out people and vehicles on your cameras, and an operator checks each alert on live video. A real intruder hears a voice telling them to leave. If they don't, lights and a siren go off. If a crime is confirmed, we call the Saskatoon Police Service and stay on the line. That's a verified response in about one minute, with zero false alarms, because a person confirms everything first.
The core is changing. The Link bus rapid transit line is under construction and set to launch in 2028, so streets downtown and along the main corridors are torn up. Downtown business owners told 980 CJME that crime felt "the same, if not worse," even as the city's property crime fell 7.7% in 2025 (980 CJME).
Builders feel it too. In March 2026, Saskatoon Police arrested a man who got into a secure construction site in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North (Saskatoon Police Service). Fences alone don't stop that. An operator who sees the person climbing in and speaks to them right away usually does.
Business break-ins are rising even though home break-ins are falling. The Saskatoon Police Service recorded 743 non-residential break-ins in 2025, up from 716, while residential break-ins dropped to 557 from 686 (SPS 2025 Annual Report).
Retail theft got enough attention that police ran Project SHIELD blitzes at stores on Confederation Drive (Saskatoon Police Service), and CBC reported a provincewide push against organized shoplifting (CBC).
For plaza owners near Midtown, Preston Crossing, The Centre and Confederation Mall, we watch storefronts, rear doors, loading areas and parking lots after close. More on Saskatoon shopping centre security and retail.
Most of those 3,812 starts are in the newer neighbourhoods on the city's edges. Brighton and Rosewood in the southeast, Aspen Ridge and Evergreen in the northeast, and Kensington and Stonebridge all have open lots, framing crews and deliveries arriving weekly.
The City of Saskatoon issued 4,146 building permits worth $1.17 billion in 2025, and residential work made up $772 million of that (City of Saskatoon, December 2025 building permit report).
Pole cameras on site power cover these jobs best. They go live in 5 to 7 days, or sooner when needed, and every powered site gets 24-hour backup power. Operators watch materials, containers and equipment from dusk to dawn. Saskatoon contractors will find more on Saskatoon construction security and construction.
Saskatoon's rental vacancy rose to 3.3% in 2025 from 2%, and condo rentals were nearly full at 0.8% (CMHC Rental Market Report). CMHC says much of the new supply landed in the South and Southeast, where some landlords are offering incentives to fill units.
Property managers and condo boards use us to watch parkades, lobbies, mail rooms and garbage areas. Each incident comes with a clip and a timestamp. Saskatoon strata councils can read strata live video monitoring, residential strata security, parkade security and strata and property management.
Warehouses, truck yards and equipment dealers in the Marquis and North Industrial areas hold trailers, fuel and copper behind wide fences. SPS counted 323 break-ins at detached buildings such as sheds and outbuildings in 2025 (SPS 2025 Annual Report). Our operators watch the gates, docks and yard edges and catch after-hours visitors early. Saskatoon yards: industrial and truck yard security, warehousing and commercial and industrial.
Saskatoon is Canada's potash capital, home to Nutrien's headquarters. East of the city, BHP is building the Jansen potash mine, with Stage 1 production targeted for mid-2027 (BHP). Contractors, service companies and suppliers have laydown yards, camps and equipment spread across the region, often far from the nearest town.
Farms and grain yards face the same problem: expensive gear, long gaps between visits, and dark nights. For these remote sites with no power, which make up only about 4% of what we monitor, we use a solar camera tower. It goes up within 24 hours and its battery lasts two weeks, cold weather included. Wind chills dropped below minus 40 in January 2026 (Regina Leader-Post), and that's the kind of night these towers are built for, with gear rated to -40°C. Potash and resource operators can read mining and resource site security, energy site security, mining, farm security and solar camera towers.
Outside city limits, our supervisors call the local RCMP detachment when a crime is confirmed.
The result for clients: crime down 98% or more. Insurers approve us, the industry has given us awards, and after 11 years we know live monitoring can save up to 70% over guards. Our 30-Day Performance Guarantee means you can try us with no risk. Existing ONVIF cameras can be connected too.
"Secure Defence has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure our sites are secure. Aamir and his team have earned our business and our trust through their hard work, dedication, and personal attention to detail." Charan Sethi, President & CVO

Yes. We monitor contractor yards, laydown areas, farms and grain sites across central Saskatchewan, including around the Jansen potash project.
A solar camera tower. It's only needed at the small share of sites with no power. Ours stand up in less than a day and hold two weeks of charge.
Yes. The two-week battery holds in winter, including deep cold snaps.
In Saskatoon, plan for 5 to 7 days between approval and live pole cameras, sooner on request, with a day's worth of backup power at each powered site.
Yes. We watch storefronts, rear doors, loading areas and parking lots after hours, and our operators warn people off before anything is damaged.
If you're not completely satisfied with our monitoring performance in the first 30 days, we'll remove the system at no charge and refund your first month.
