Remote gate access control is an add-on to our 24/7 live video monitoring. When a driver pulls up to your gate, they talk to a trained, licensed operator at our command centre. The operator sees them on camera, checks them against your list and opens the gate. Every entry is logged with video.
Secure Defence has protected sites since 2015. Live video monitoring is the core of what we do. Our operators watch your cameras live from our own command centre in Richmond, BC, and act the moment something is wrong. We're the Fastest Growing Security Company in Canada, the highest-ranked security company on both The Globe and Mail and BIV growth lists for 2025 and 2026. We have 500+ customers and 1,000+ sites live monitored across Western Canada. Metro Vancouver is our home market, and our two biggest areas of work are construction site security and strata and property management.
A guard in a booth costs a lot, and they can only watch one gate. Keys, fobs and shared gate codes get lost, copied and passed around. Most gate problems happen at the edges of the day:
Our operators handle all of these from one place, around the clock. Compared with on-site guards, live monitoring can save up to 70%.
If someone tries to follow a vehicle through or climb the gate, the same operator sees it and responds.
Licence plate recognition (LPR), also searched as license plate recognition, reads the plate of every vehicle at your gate. It makes busy gates faster and safer.
LPR is part of our gate and access control service.
Not every entry needs an operator. Regular users can use a PIN, a fob or a QR code sent to their phone, and the operator steps in only when something doesn't look right.
For sites that need it, we can connect biometric readers, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, to your gate.
A note on privacy. Biometric data is sensitive personal information under BC and Canadian privacy law (PIPA and PIPEDA). If you use it, people should know what is collected, why and how long it's kept, and you should have a clear reason to collect it. In most cases, a PIN, fob or QR code does the job. Talk to us and your privacy advisor before you choose biometric entry.
Some yards need to know more than who came through the gate. They need to know where a trailer or load went after it left. GPS and cargo tracking can link vehicle and trailer location to your gate logs, so you can see when a load left, where it went and whether it arrived.
We offer GPS and cargo tracking alongside gate and access control.
Your gate is one part of your site. The same operators who run your gate also watch your fences, parkades and yards. If someone slips in behind a truck, it's spotted on the next camera. You get one team, one set of instructions and one report.
