Construction Site Security Cameras with 24/7 Live Monitoring

Stop theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access before they delay your project — 24/7 verified monitoring built for Canadian construction.

Your job site holds copper, tools, fuel and machines worth a lot of money. For most of the day, nobody is there.

Secure Defence has protected sites since 2015. We're the Fastest Growing Security Company in Canada, the highest-ranked security company on both The Globe and Mail and BIV growth lists for 2025 and 2026. We have 500+ customers and 1,000+ sites live monitored across Western Canada. Our licensed operators work from our own command centre in Richmond, BC, and Metro Vancouver is our home market.

We put construction site security cameras on your site and watch them live. Most sites get cameras on wooden or metal poles, running on site power. Remote sites with no power get a solar camera tower instead.

AI picks out people and vehicles on your cameras. A trained operator checks the live video and steps in right away. They speak to the person over a speaker, set off the siren and strobes, and call police if needed. A person checks every alert, so you get zero false alarms. Recording-only cameras show you a theft after it happens. A guard can only be in one spot. We watch every camera at once and act while it's happening. Our clients see crime drop by 98% or more. It's one monthly fee, with no upfront equipment cost.

Why job sites get hit

Copper and wire. Copper wire, pipe and fittings are light, valuable and easy to resell. Read more about copper and lumber theft.

Tools. Power tools, generators and compressors left in gang boxes or sea cans.

Fuel. Diesel siphoned from machines and tanks.

Equipment. Small machines, attachments, light towers and anything on a trailer.

After-hours trespass. People looking for shelter or a shortcut, plus climbers on cranes and scaffolding.

How it works: detect → verify → voice-down → police dispatch

Our 24/7 live video monitoring follows four steps.

1

AI person/vehicle detection

Smart cameras pick out people and vehicles in the zones and hours you set. Wind, rain, animals, blowing tarps and branches are filtered out.
2

Operator verification in our Richmond command centre

Every alert goes to a licensed operator in our Richmond command centre. We don't outsource. During your monitored hours, operators also watch every camera live, even with no alert. A person checks every alert, so you get zero false alarms.
3

Live voice-down, strobes and sirens

If someone shouldn't be there, the operator speaks to them directly over two-way audio: "This is private property. Do not enter. Leave now." If the warning is ignored, the siren and strobe lights go on. A supervisor calls police if a crime is confirmed.
4

Police dispatch with verified video

If the person stays, or the situation is serious, a supervisor calls 911 with a verified, in-progress report. The operator zooms in with the 360° PTZ camera to capture faces and licence plates. Your project WhatsApp group gets photos and clips as things happen.

Each shift starts with a virtual safety check of your site for fence breaches, safety hazards and WorkSafeBC issues.

If someone shouldn't be there, we follow three steps.

  1. Voice. The operator speaks to them directly over two-way audio. "This is private property. Do not enter. Leave now."
  2. Siren and strobe. If the warning is ignored, the siren and strobe lights go on, which causes most intruders to retreat.
  3. Police. A supervisor calls police if a crime is confirmed.

If the person stays, or the situation is serious, a supervisor calls 911 with a verified, in-progress report. It describes the intruders and says where they are on site. The operator zooms in with the 360° PTZ camera to capture faces and licence plates. The supervisor stays on the call until police arrive.

Your project WhatsApp group gets photos and clips as things happen. Afterward, we call your main contact and email the HD video, the police file number and the details.

Camera options for every site

On most projects that means cameras on wooden or metal poles, running on site power, covering the perimeter, the gate and the laydown area. As the building closes in, cameras are added inside and at entrances. Solar camera towers are only for remote sites with no power or internet, about 4% of the locations we monitor.

Solar/LTE camera towers (no power or internet needed)

Our solar camera towers are self-contained units delivered on a trailer. Each one has a 450W solar array, lithium-ion batteries, a telescopic 6 to 8 m mast, high-speed 5G internet, with satellite internet only where there's no cell coverage, cameras, and a speaker, siren and strobes. They deploy within 24 hours. Looking at construction site security camera rental? This is our monitored version, for one monthly fee.

Pole and building-mounted cameras

This is our main setup for any site with power. We mount cameras on wooden or metal poles, hoarding or the building itself to cover entrances, laydown areas, loading bays and parkades. Options include telephoto and 180° wide-angle smart AI cameras, 360° PTZ, ultra-low-light and thermal cameras. For pole-mounted cameras, you provide the poles and a continuous 120V power supply at each one. Every powered site gets a 24-hour backup power system, so the cameras keep running through a power outage. A full deployment of pole-mounted cameras goes live in 5 to 7 days, and we can speed that up if you need it.

Add-ons: gate access, crane climbing detection, time-lapse, fire and flood detection

  • Gate access control. Let approved trades and deliveries in remotely after hours, without handing out codes or keys.

  • Crane climbing detection. alerts our operators when someone starts climbing a tower crane, so they can step in before it becomes a safety incident.

  • Construction time-lapse. Progress footage for owners and lenders.

  • Early fire detection and flood sensors. thermal cameras watch for heat build-up, detecting temperature changes as small as 0.1 °C, to catch a hot spot before it has a chance to ignite. Water sensors detect as little as 0.5 mm of water and can shut off the supply automatically.

  • Monitoring of existing cameras. If you already have cameras on site, we can connect them to our command centre. We can monitor any ONVIF-compliant camera, whatever the brand.

Choosing the right mix

  • Is there power on site? If there is, pole-mounted cameras on site power are the standard setup. If it's a remote site with no power or internet, a solar camera tower is the option.

  • How big is the footprint? A small infill lot may need a few poles. A subdivision or civil job needs more, spaced so their views overlap. On remote sites, each tower carries 4 to 8 cameras.

  • Where is the value? Laydown areas, fuel storage, the gate, sea cans and parked machines usually get the first cameras.

We go through these on a free site assessment.

Install timeline

1

Site assessment

A short site review call, then we walk the site, or review drawings and photos, and mark camera positions.

2

Quote and approval

A monthly quote covering everything. Once you approve, a full deployment of pole-mounted cameras goes live in 5 to 7 days, and we can speed that up if you need it.

3

Installation

Cameras are mounted on poles, set up and calibrated, with 24-hour backup power. On remote sites with no power, towers arrive by trailer within 24 hours.

4

Commissioning

We set detection zones and schedules, test the speakers, and load your site instructions (call list, monitored hours, access protocol and response steps) into the command centre.

5

Live

Monitoring starts. You get access to our mobile and desktop apps for live and recorded video, with unlimited users, and we set up your project WhatsApp group.

One monthly fee, no upfront equipment cost

What's included in one monthly fee. The cameras, delivery, installation, maintenance, high-speed 5G internet and live monitoring, plus access to our apps.

Monitoring plans. Choose 24-hour monitoring, or our Standard plan, which covers 4 pm to 7 am on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.

30-Day Performance Guarantee. If you're not completely satisfied with our monitoring performance in the first 30 days, we'll remove the system at no charge and refund your first month.

What it costs. Pricing depends on your location, the number of cameras, storage, monitoring hours and similar factors. A free site assessment gets you an exact quote.

From groundbreaking to handover

Site prep and excavation. Open ground and equipment parked overnight. Pole-mounted cameras cover the perimeter and the machines. If the site is remote with no power yet, solar camera towers fill the gap.

Foundations and framing. Material deliveries pile up, and lumber, rebar and copper start arriving. We add views over laydown areas and the gate, and crane climbing detection once a crane is up.

Lock-up and interiors. The risk moves inside, to fixtures, wiring, appliances and tools. Building-mounted cameras and gate access cover entrances and floors.

Handover. In most cases, removal at the end of the term is included. Once residents or tenants move in, the property manager can keep live monitoring going. See strata and property management security.
