Truck Yard, Warehouse and Logistics Security in the Fraser Valley

The Fraser Valley is where the Lower Mainland stores its freight. Truck parking in Langley and Abbotsford, warehouses along Highway 1 and lumber yards in Maple Ridge and Mission hold trailers, equipment and fuel outside every night. Secure Defence protects truck yards, warehouses, distribution centres, lumber yards and industrial facilities in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Langley, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows with live video monitoring. Trained, licensed operators watch your cameras in real time and stop theft while it's still starting.

Who we are and how we work

What we do: live video monitoring. We watch your yard as it happens and step in before a break-in turns into a loss.

How we do it: smart cameras that detect people and vehicles, paired with trained, licensed operators in our own command centre in Richmond, BC, 24/7.

Your local team: a Lower Mainland salesperson who plans your coverage and a technician who installs and services your system.

Where we work: all of Western Canada, including BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Track record: 11 years in business, award-winning, and named the Fastest Growing Security Company in Canada on The Globe and Mail and BIV lists for 2025 and 2026. 500+ businesses served and 1,000+ sites monitored across Western Canada.

What the data shows

Freight theft is on the rise. Équité Association says trailer thefts across Canada nearly doubled in 2025 to about 970, up from about 570. Only 44% of stolen trailers were recovered, and just 9% of stolen cargo. Groceries, auto parts and building materials such as copper are the top targets (Truck News, citing Équité Association).

Metal thieves are busy in BC as well. BC Hydro says copper wire thefts from its equipment rose 380%, with 24 thefts and mischief cases at its underground maintenance holes since January 2024, compared with 5 in the two years before (NanaimoNewsNOW, citing BC Hydro). Copper, coils and scrap sitting on a yard are easy targets.

How we stop it in your yard

Picture a truck yard in Langley at 3 am. A pickup pulls up to the back fence and two people start cutting the chain link next to a row of loaded trailers.

Our cameras flag the movement the moment it starts. An operator in our command centre sees the live picture within seconds. The operator speaks through the pole speaker and tells them they are on camera and police are being called. If they keep going, the siren and strobes go off. With a crime confirmed, the operator calls for Verified Police Response with a description, the plate if visible and direction of travel, and stays on the line until police arrive.

That's a 1-minute verified response. Because a person checks every alert, there are zero false alarms. Our clients see 98%+ overall crime reduction. More on our live video monitoring page.

Threats we watch for

Cargo theft and trailer break-ins:

pallets, packaged goods, sealed trailers and containers.

Equipment and machinery theft:

forklifts, loaders, power tools and rental equipment.

Fuel theft:

siphoning from trucks, reefers and yard tanks.

Perimeter breaches:

fence cutting and gates forced open.

Loading bay and side door break-ins.

Copper and metal theft:

wiring, coils, catalytic converters and scrap.

Stolen trucks and unauthorized trailer hookups.

Trespassing and illegal dumping,

plus vandalism and graffiti.

Fire:

fire and smoke detection gives early warning at distribution centres and lumber yards.

Facilities we protect

Truck yards and trailer parking.

Cameras cover every row, and LPR (licence plate recognition) logs each truck in and out. GPS and cargo tracking can follow trailers once they leave.

Warehouses and distribution centres.

Docks, side doors and yard space, with incident reports when a shipment goes missing.

Lumber yards and industrial facilities.

Wide, open storage areas, often with stretches that have no power.

Access control and cameras together

Gate access control decides who gets in, and cameras show what they do once inside. Drivers can be let in by code or remotely by an operator, and every entry is on video. That matters when, as Équité has warned, someone arrives with paperwork that looks real.

Setup and winter readiness

One monthly fee covers the equipment, installation, maintenance and live monitoring.

1

Your local rep walks the site and sends a recommended layout and quote within 24 to 48 hours.

2

Existing cameras can usually be connected to our command centre the same day.

3

Pole-camera sites go live in 5 to 7 days, installed around your shipping schedule.

4

Remote yards and corners with no power get a solar tower within 24 hours. Each tower carries 4 to 8 cameras, and the battery lasts 2 weeks without sun, winter included. See off-grid solutions.

Equipment is rated to -40 C, well past anything the valley throws at it. Every powered site gets a 24-hour backup power system. We keep 30 to 90 days of video and can search across all your cameras in under 5 seconds to find a truck, a person or a plate.

Guards, insurance and our guarantee

Clients save up to 70% compared with on-site guards, and one operator watching every camera covers more of a big yard than a guard on foot. Guards are still available as a secondary option for a high-value load or a shutdown. The service is insurance-approved, and our 30-Day Performance Guarantee lets you see the results before you commit.
