Who we are, in short: a BC company founded in 2015, with 500+ customers and 1,000+ sites live monitored across Western Canada. We're the Fastest Growing Security Company in Canada, the highest-ranked security company on both The Globe and Mail's Top Growing Companies and BIV's Fastest-Growing Companies in B.C. lists, 2025 and 2026. Our command centre is in Richmond, our home base, about a half hour's drive from Surrey City Centre.
What we do is live video monitoring. How we do it: AI spots a person or vehicle on your camera, and a trained, licensed operator looks at the live picture right away. If someone is where they shouldn't be, the operator talks to them over the speaker, sets off the siren and strobes if they stay, and calls police once a crime is confirmed. No alert reaches police until a person has checked it, so there are zero false alarms and a verified response in about one minute.
Surrey's growth runs along two big public projects. The Surrey Langley SkyTrain is a 16 km, eight-station line under construction down Fraser Highway, and the new Surrey hospital and BC Cancer Centre in Cloverdale is going up at the same time. Around them, towers rise in City Centre, townhomes fill Clayton and Grandview Heights, and South Surrey keeps adding mid-rise rentals.
Break-ins at businesses are moving the wrong way. The Surrey Police Service reported 544 business break-and-enters in 2025, up 17% from 463 in 2024, while residential break-ins fell 13% (Surrey Police Service, 2025 Report to the Community). The same report counts 3,118 thefts from vehicles in the city. A site trailer, a tool crib or a parked work truck is exactly that kind of target.
Permit numbers show how much is going up. The City of Surrey issued 2,451 building permits worth $2.04 billion in 2025, covering 4,280 new homes (City of Surrey, December 2025 permit summary).
Fraser Valley builders can turn to construction site security in the Fraser Valley and commercial construction security.
A Surrey strata council usually calls us about the parkade first. Gates get tailgated, storage cages get cut, and cars get broken into overnight. Operators watch the gate, the ramps and the bike room live, and they warn people off before the damage is done. Every event comes with clips and timestamps you can take to council or your insurer. Read our Surrey parkade crime guide, or see strata live video monitoring, strata property management security, parkade security and residential strata security.
Shopping plazas get the same treatment. Storefronts, loading lanes and parking lots are watched after closing. Valley retailers can read shopping centre and strip mall security and our post on Fraser Valley retail break-ins.
The Highway 1 widening between 216th and 264th Street is one more long, open work zone in a corridor that is already full of them.
Willoughby and Latimer are mostly townhome and low-rise builds with lumber and appliances delivered in waves. Gloucester is trucks, trailers and tilt-up warehouses.
Abbotsford is building faster than anywhere else in the valley. CMHC counted 2,125 housing starts in the Abbotsford-Mission area in 2025, up 80% from 1,183 (CMHC, Jan 2026). More starts means more open sites with nobody there at night.
Chilliwack has the highest Crime Severity Index of any metro area we serve: 134.3 in 2025, compared with 75.0 for Canada (Statistics Canada, 2025). Abbotsford-Mission sat at 95.5. Builders in Sardis and Garrison Crossing, and landlords in Vedder, are dealing with that every week.
The Fraser Valley is one of the busiest industrial markets in the region. Cushman & Wakefield counts about 108 million square feet of industrial space in its Fraser Valley market, with vacancy at 5.0% at the end of 2025. Surrey sits at 5.4%, Langley at 3.2% and Abbotsford at 6.7%, and 674,000 square feet was under construction in Surrey alone (Cushman & Wakefield, Q4 2025).
New buildings that are waiting for a tenant, and busy ones with trailers parked out back, both draw thieves. We watch dock doors, fence lines and yard gates, and we flag after-hours vehicles before anyone gets near the cargo. For Valley yards and storage, check industrial and truck yard security, self-storage security, dealership security, our warehouse security page and commercial and industrial.

Farming is what makes this hub different. According to a Senate committee report, Fraser Valley farms produce about 40% of BC's gross farm receipts on 2.4% of the province's farmland (Senate of Canada, 2022). That means diesel tanks, tractors, greenhouse copper and irrigation pumps spread across Sumas Prairie, Mt Lehman, Agassiz and the back roads of Aldergrove, often a long way from the farmhouse.
The same report puts the November 2021 flood's farm losses at about $285 million, across more than 1,000 farms. Our command centre is built to keep running through floods and power outages, and every powered site we monitor gets a 24-hour backup power system.
For a field or yard with no power at all, we use a solar camera tower. That's our option for the roughly 4% of sites with no hydro. Installed in under a day, it carries two weeks of battery that doesn't quit in winter. Growers can read farm and greenhouse security.
Here, we usually hang cameras on poles and feed them from the site's own power. Plan on a week or less: 5 to 7 days, with faster installs possible for tight projects. If you already have cameras, we can usually monitor them too. Brand doesn't matter as long as it's ONVIF.
AI flags a person or vehicle in a zone you care about.
A licensed operator at our Richmond video walls checks the live view.
The operator speaks over the speaker. Anyone who doesn't move on gets the siren and strobe lights.
If a crime is confirmed, the matching police agency gets a call from a supervisor, who describes the suspect and holds the line. You get photos and clips in real time.
The step-by-step version is on our live video monitoring page.
Fraser Valley clients, like all of ours, see 98%+ less crime. Insurers approve our setup, and swapping guards for live monitoring can save up to 70%. We're award-winning, with 11 years of experience.
"The single biggest benefit we've experienced since partnering with Secure Defence is that I trust our site is secure and I don't have to worry about someone breaking in." Steve Rosa, Senior Superintendent

Yes. Surrey is part of our Fraser Valley service area, and it's one of the busiest parts of it. This is the right page for any Surrey construction site, strata, rental building, plaza or warehouse.
It depends on where the site is. In Surrey, our supervisors call the Surrey Police Service. Langley sites are served by Langley RCMP, Abbotsford by the Abbotsford Police Department, Chilliwack by Upper Fraser Valley RCMP, Mission by Mission RCMP, and Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows by Ridge Meadows RCMP. In every case the call describes a crime our operator has confirmed on live video.
Yes. We watch parkade gates, ramps, storage rooms, bike rooms and lobbies, and we warn off intruders live. Councils and property managers get clips and timestamps for every incident.
For powered Fraser Valley sites, expect 5 to 7 days to go live, or less for an urgent start. No hydro? A solar tower can be standing by the next day, within 24 hours.
Every powered site we monitor has a 24-hour backup power system, so cameras keep recording and operators keep watching through an outage.
Yes. For the few sites with no hydro, we bring in a solar camera tower. Setup takes less than 24 hours, and the battery keeps it running for two weeks through any season.
If you're not completely satisfied with our monitoring performance in the first 30 days, we'll remove the system at no charge and refund your first month.
